Reciting the first time may work for siddhas and other holy persons. In fact, it may not even be required for accomplished gurus and sādhakas. But for most people like us, it is best to recite every time we take up the mantra japa recitation in full. If the mantra has become aligned with your breath and you are able to fall into deep sleep or meditation with it, then the mantra recitation itself is sufficient. Everything else can be omitted. But in general, it is best to follow the document in full. The tantras even describe pīṭha and āvaraṇa pūja as well. One way to look at it, is to perceive them as tools of tantra, that help to invoke the maximum potential of the mantra.

Namaste Krishnaji, I had a question on this and the other Shyamala mantras. Do we have to recite utkilana, sanjivana and shapavimocana mantras each time we do the mantra japam or only once when we start ? Thanks.

What I love most about Śrī Rāja Śyāmala is her irresistible attraction. Having her at our side facilitates the approach to any being in the universe. In fact, she is the power of attraction of Lalita, the most beautiful and playful of the three realms.

Your guru would have given the mantra with due consideration based on name, birth chart and not per your choice. So just chant what is given to you. There is no initiation for Siddhi mantra it is self initiation so no energy transfer per your question.

Her perfection brings success in all sadhanas, be they left or right hand, good or bad. The sadhaka must be aware of this divine mother who brings success in all sadhanas. She is the almight Mantrini and prime minister of Lalita Tripurasundari.

All the 8 forms of Śrī Rāja Śyāmalā are worshipped with a 1/10th japa count of what is performed for Śrī Rāja Śyāmalā. For instance, if we recite 1 mālā of 108 counts of Śrī Rāja Śyāmalā, we may recite 10 or 11 counts of Śrī Laghu Śyāmalā mantra etc. Those interested in the individual deity Puraścaraṇa, can follow the mantra japa procedures for the specific deity accordingly. During the Navarātri, this special sādhana is done for the individual forms, where the entire procedure for the day specific deity is performed. The japa count is left to the capacity of the sādhaka. During the normal recitation of Śrī Rāja Śyāmalā mantras, there is no need to follow the complete procedures of Her aṅga devatas. Instead just the mantras can be recited as a 1/10th count (daśāṃsa).
