Another interesting fact is that Sumukhi Devi is also one of the consorts of Sri Kartikkeya ( DhurtaSwaami) in Agni Purana. Wonder if this is a different amsam than the consort Ucchista Chandalini of Ucchista Ganapati.

I landed on this page recently. I have a question. Is Sumukhi Devi same as Laghu Shyamala Devi ? Or are they fundamentally different aspects? I see that both their mantras contain the term “Ucchista Chandalini” in it. Hence my doubt. Thanks sir.

Here on this site, knowledge is given without any discrimination. Our great fortune only takes us to the Divine Mother's various form's worship. Guiding medium can be a Guru, words of true knowledge in verbal or text form. Only The Divine Mother & Lord Shiva decides, who is capable of following their teachings, since most of Mantra, Yantra, Tantra Shashtra are in form of a discourse between them in form of question & answers. We as a human too are seeking answers from them. If an interpretation, guidance, by a learned Guru like Ravi sir, Krishna ji, can guide some of us, then we are quite fortunate. I thank them for their selfless service for the seekers. If The Divine Mother wants you to worship her, any path will lead you to Her only. There is no need to terrorise others by the claims of harm may happen to one's family if they follow knowledge imparted here. Our mind is hungry for content. If we feed it with spiritual texts then what is wrong?

The comment above is a big rant describing the harm and misfortunes one can encounter following the procedures mentioned here. The person indicates that I am not a guru and the article was lifted from Mantra Mahodadhi. He further claims knowledge from 50 related scriptures. Also, he states that one who knows the proper procedures taken from a qualified guru alone can obtain success in this mantra. While I do agree with almost everything stated in the comment, including my own ineptitude and incompetency to advice on sādhanās, I do wish to submit that I have had remarkable success related to the Divine Mother Sumukhi, Mātaṅgī and to some extent in Śrī Vidya. I however do not claim any expertise whatsoever. Comprehending the infinite is simply impossible! There are claims and counter claims on whether the Vedic method called as Dakṣiṇācāra followed in most of South India is effective or whether the more tantric Kaulācāra method should be followed, especially with Pañcamakaras? In my own personal experience of following both these methods, especially for this particular mantra, I can unequivocally state that NONE of them yield any benefits, until one has fully comprehended the inner meaning and the true purpose of the Divine Manifestation of Sumukhi devi as Ucchiṣṭa Cāṇḍālini. I have had the good fortune of being in the midst of gurus following various traditions and methods, but I must state that I have learnt more about the proper procedures of mantra sādhana by the grace of Shri Ravi Guruji and Shri Krishna ji of Bangalore, who both follow the Vedic method. The Kaula gurus have simply initiated me into the mantras and stressed upon their continual repetition in large numbers, rather than explain the intricacies of their meaning, the secrets and logic behind the procedures etc. My advice to those who cannot find a proper guru, is to read the tantras and the mantra books such as Mantra Mahodadhi, Śāradā Tilakam, Kulārṇava Tantram and various others related to mantra japa. A true guru is one, who strides like an elephant and ignores the bark of dozens of dogs in its periphery. Our own consciousness will recognize when we encounter such a guru, who selflessly initiates, displays great humility and takes us to the higher levels of consciousness.

I'm not aware of any special tarpaṇas for these forms of the Divine Mother. Regular process is followed for Puraścaraṇa.

It is a śloka composed by the gentleman after receiving divine grace. The hymn extolls Lord Śiva. Elsewhere in the article some explanation is also given. For the Mahāśivarātrī, you may recite Rudram and/or read our articles on Lord Śiva. In due course of time, we will add more Śiva sādhanas. For now, we have Śrī Dakṣiṇāmūrti and Akṣobhya mantras on our site and you may recite them if initiated into the same.
