In fact, there could be several blockages before reaching heart chakra. Physically, there will be swelling in the back between naval area and heart chakra. Swelling could be like a line or like a few dots. If there are swellings, these swellings are to be removed physically through massage using Dhanvantra oil. During this period, meditation should be suspended. These swellings erupt due to improper seating. Mostly this is due to forward bending. Hence sitting posture during kundalini meditation is very important in the initial stages. But we come across more psychological blocks than physical blocks. Psychological blocks are due to lack of pure love, presence of hatred, anger, etc. Psychological blocks are bound to be there when one's love for others is tainted. That is why, it is said that kundalini meditation should not be practiced without purifying the mind. Psychological blocks lead to hatred, anger, enmity, etc. I intend writing a series on kundalini meditation, mainly focusing on the practical side, once Sri Chakra series is completed.

Ravi Sir, Can you please let me know the correct mudras of the Gayathri manthra. Before we start the japa we have to perform this mudras.

For this initiation is not necessary. We can always consider Shiva as our GURU and in fact, HE is all the time.

Ravi Sir, Can you please let me know whether an initiation is necessary for chanting Mruthyunjaya japa. This is for warding off the un-natural or untimely death due to accident. If not can we think that lord Shiva himself as guru and start the manthra japa.
