Ajapa can mean constant and spontaneous mental repetition. This will happen automatically one day. The only way to achieve ajapa is by performing japa, whether that is vocal chant, mental chant or aligning with the breath as Ravi teaches.

Ātmabodha is one of the highest Advaita Philosophical treatises. Names such as Lalitambika, etc are associated with Dvaita Philosophy. One has to move from Dvaita to Advaita, which is extremely a difficult process. In Dvaita, we worship gods and goddesses with different shapes and forms. This is bhakti marga, which will lead to jnana marga. In bhakti marga, there are two objects; one is god and another is you. Jnana marga says that you are Brahman or “aham brahmasmi”. All Upanishads teach only non-duality, which is Advaita. Even prominent Tantra Scriptures such as Mahanirvana Tantra says, “sat cit ekam Brahma”, where Brahma refers to Brahman (not the god in charge of creation as per Scriptures). We cannot progress to non-duality or Advaita without practicing Dvaita, wherein we do mantra japa, puja, etc. But, for the purpose of Liberation, which is sole aim of all human beings, we cannot stay only in Dvaita. We have to move on to Advaita. That is why, Shankaracharya had composed Scriptures like Saundaryalahari and also Ātmabodha. We have to move from Scriptures like Lalita Sahasranama, Vishnu Sahasranama, Saundaryalahari, Navavarana puja, etc to learn Advaita. Advaita explains how to perceive the world, which is not different from Brahman. This is being explained Shankaracharya Ātmabodha. There are other articles like Guruji Speaks in this site, where Advaita is explained in simple terms.

Dear Raviji, If there are no Gods like Shiva and Parashakthi, how scriptures described their forms? How about Devi swaroopa varnana in Soundarya Lahari, Lalitha Sahasram etc? Were they just imagination of Shankaracharya and Vagdevathas respectively? And what's the point of doing Vrathams like Varalakshmi vratham? Even Maha shodashi mantra cannot give liberation ? I am very much confused. Please enlighten me. Thank you
