Not mandatory to recite the phalashruti. I do suggest its recitation, so we know what to expect and to also ask the Divine Mother for the promised benefits.

Dear Krishnaji, Is it mandatory to recite phalashruti. Can we stop with reciting the paratyangira devi sarvartha kavacha only.

Thank you very much Krishna Ji for such a detailed explanation and your blessings. I will surely try my level best to educate my child on this. I would really like to ask forgiveness for all my knowing/unknowing sins and ask Amma to remove all types of dosha's and any negativity. Please guide me on how do i proceed next.

It is a very noble thought and I pray to the Divine Mother sincerely to make it happen for you! You must understand, that everyone of us carries our own karmic burden and not necessarily of our parents, though some of which may have come from our pitṛ-s (ancestors). It is natural for us to wish the best for our descendants and live with the same hope. What is more apt, is to educate and make the future generations aware of the effects of karma and the need for leading a moralistic life and the reasons to seek spiritual salvation. For us to remove our own doṣa-s (miseries), we can take refuge in mantra japa, as one of the most effective remedies. It will bring respite to us, as well as to the entire family and immediate surroundings even, when siddhi happens. We need to perform the mantra japa with utmost sincerity, faith and dedication. It may take some time for the karmic barriers to break, but they will, with the grace of the Divine Mother. If you have such hope and resolve, you will surely succeed. This is from my own first hand experience with mantra japa.

The mantra that would be used for all procedures constituting the Puraścaraṇa, is the same mantra used for mantra japa. The only difference, is that when performing the homam, a 'svāhā' is added to the end of the mantra. This is the case for mantras ending with 'svāhā' also. The pronunciation is sometimes 'svāhā-ha', for the last 'svāhā'. For tarpaṇa, a 'tarpayāmi' is added at the end of the mantra. The homam process itself is documented in another article on this website, which can be followed for any homam, with slight variations for dhyāna (meditation) etc. Please note that anyone who is not looking for any specific benefits or wish fulfillment, need not go for Puraścaraṇa. It is however recommended, to bring closure to the mantra japa and proceed to other deity mantras, if desired. Practically, it is best to stick to one mantra and continue the chant lifelong or as long as possible, with breath alignment. Doing so, one may at some point of time, experience success when the karmas begin to subside.
