Meaning: Salutations to the Divine Mother Śrī Mahālakṣmī, consort of Lord Viṣṇu seated on an expansive lotus and is lotus-eyed. She holds in Her upper arms two lotuses of eight petals each and displays the fear allaying Abhaya mudra and the boon granting Vara mudra in Her lower arms. She appears splendid and illuminates the three realms with Her dazzling radiance. She bears an extremely delightful and pleasing pearl necklace and other precious ornaments and holds a golden treasure pot in Her arms close to Her chest. She wears multiple layers of ornaments on Her body and also has a bejeweled crown upon Her head. She is the cause of the Sustenance of the entire Creation and is the cause and source of all wealth, prosperity, abundance and auspiciousness.

The lotuses represent the evolution of the consciousness and also the material and spiritual wealth prevalent in the entire Creation. Her white complexion reflects the revealed Truth and the precious ornaments reflect the abundance that She showers upon Her devotees. The wish granting Vara mudra represents the fulfillment of all wishes and desires and the fear allaying Abhaya removes any and all fears and doubts that one may have. The moon represents the mind and She is the super-consciousness. The closeness of the subtle body consisting of the mind, ego and intellect (antaḥkaraṇa) to the causal body consisting of karma and the consciousness is indicated, with the relationship between Candra and the Divine Mother.
