Dear Sir, isn't it supposed to be "Om kakāra rupāyai namah"?

External retention is not taken into account in these ratios. If you take for example III stage, it means 5 counts inhalation, 2 counts internal retention and 5 counts exhalation. External retention is based upon one's capacity to remain without breathing. One has to be highly careful during external retention.

III Inhalation - 5 counts, Retention - 2 counts, Exhalation - 5 counts, Ratio 1:0.5:1 Can you please explain how to apply the ratio to this breathing practice? Does the ratio translate to? 5 counts of inhalation, 0 counts of internal retention, 25 counts of exhalation, 10 counts of outside retention? Thanks!

Mind is the basis of all our actions. We accrue our karmas through our mind as sensory organs act at the behest of the mind. Thus, the mind becomes the sole instrument for all our actions and consequent karmas. Since we consider the material world as real through the mind, mind stuff is called ignorant as the truth is that Brahman is everything and all pervasive. Instead of paying attention to the material world, if we think that Brahman is all pervasive, the mind is attuned to the reality. In this case, the mind pursues Truth and Devotion.

Pranam Ravi Sir, If we consider Mind-Stuff is due to Ignorance then how to relate 'Seeking Truth' or 'Devotion' through that Mind.

As far as the scriptures are concerned, it is implicit that the reference is for the visible eclipses only. Even though the eclipse is not visible in the U.S. and other parts of the world, the Earth, Sun and Moon are still in a line during that time and mantra japa, meditation would still be very effective, compared to other times. You may still practice the same tomorrow. I plan to do so from Dallas as well!

Ravijii, you do not know how much you are benefiting our lives. Some of us , especially in America, are growing without having the Benicia of a “physically present” guru where we can commensurate our various experiences. Aside from some false Tex he’d , I have not had the benefit of real gurus in America. Your blog provides me with so much clarity. Recently, Sodasi appeared in my dream. I immediately came here to attempt to gain clarity for my experience. Thank you so much for sharing your relationship with Her. It is so helpful.

The Pañca Pallava-s can be used as greetings or namaskāras, but their inherent meaning still remains the same.

Krishnaji, I live in California and DrikPanchang.com says that this eclipse(25th Dec for our time) is not applicable for SFO area. Was it only for Sutak or for meditation also. As per my family tradition I try to meditate/sadhana on every eclipse - whether it is visible/applicable or not. But, I am just curious, - do scriptures talk about ALL eclipses or the ones that are visibile in that location?
