Śyāmalā Devi’s 98 akṣara-s contain all the akṣara-s and hence they encompass almost all the akṣara-s. These 98 akṣara-s in various combinations give rise to many bījākṣara-s and even Vārāhi Devi’s mantra can be derived only from these 98. According to me, it is only symbolic in nature. There could be other interpretations also, which I am not aware.

Ravi - You said Vārāhi Devi’s 110 akṣara-s and Śyāmalā Devi’s 98 akṣara-s, together form 208 akṣara-s used in Śrī Cakrā navāvaraṇa pūjā. Where do you have 208 akṣara-s? Thank You!

I have checked with all the materials available with me and I am not able to figure out. If I get this, I will let you know. To my knowledge, there is no mantra for Śyāmalā with 98 akṣara-s.

Ravi - I don't know any of the above. Please provide all the info. Is there a Śyāmalā mantra that has 98 akṣara-s? I figure it would look like Vārāhi mantra - mantrarājam with 110 akṣara-s. Thank You!

The ninety eight akṣara-s are calculated as follows:1. a to aḥ (अ to अः) – 15 akṣara-s2. ka to kṣa (क to क्ष) – 35. From this, ḻa (ळ) is to be excluded. Now we have 34 akṣara-s3. Add 15 + 34 = 494. Again count from kṣa to ka (क्ष to क) in the reverse order and count from aḥ to a (अः to अ) and these both put together we get another 49 akṣara-s.5. Add 49 in 3 and another 49 in 4 and we get 98.

You can use either दक्षिणे or दक्षिण. Some texts say दक्षिणे, which seems to be more appropriate as this is used both in Mantramahodadhi and Mantramaharnava. In fact I have noticed that I have used दक्षिण in the mantra after you have pointed out. I would like to go with दक्षिणे. Mistake is on my part and I am sorry about this. However, there are many texts which use दक्षिण.

I have substituted दक्षिणे for दक्षिण. So the final mantra is as below & NOT as posted originally above :-ॐ क्रीं क्रीं क्रीं हूं हूं ह्रीं ह्रीं दक्षिणे कालिके क्रीं क्रीं क्रीं हूं हूं ह्रीं ह्रीं स्वाहा॥Can you please confirm this ?
