Nrrisimham is how it is pronounced. Note the stress on the 'r's.

It helps with the continuous recitation of the mantra, even unconsciously. Breath is something that happens naturally for all living beings and the purpose of tantra is to leverage the power and attune ourselves with nature. Sound, as well as thoughts also generate vibrations. It is the subtle vibrations of the mantra recitations happening like thoughts in our mind, which have the maximum power. Another way to look at it, is that we exert ourselves much lesser with the mental recitation vs the verbal and therefore can hold on to longer mantra japa sessions at a stretch. When we follow the Japa procedures properly, we deploy the mantra on parts of our body and look to energize the body and mind with the mantra through the nyāsās, dhyāna and japa itself. During the process, we are arresting our movements and thoughts in all directions and fixating our minds to the form of the deity and finally, even aligning our breath with the mantra. There would be no difference between the mantra, deity and our self. Chandas applies to the number of letters per line and the formation of the mantra. There are many rules and variations that mandate a comprehensive study in itself. As mentioned in the article, for long mantras split as per nyāsās and for short mantras, numerous repetitions of the mantra can be performed within a breathing cycle. Please go through some of the examples quoted in the article as well as in the comments section.

Initiation is suggested, to avoid any complicated problems that may come with these type of tantric mantras. Nyāsa-s are not complicated to perform and barely take a few minutes. Why not follow the same, as they're part of the mantra japa procedure?

Is it compulsory to get initiation? I started chanting only the mantra without nyasas a few fays ago.
