Dear Sir, Pranams and Wishing you a very Happy New Year I think every month has masa shivaratri and it is called No Moon Day and amavasya is called New Moon Day. It is already Karthika masa in North India. Krishna is trying to convey the significance of Diwali, how to attain Grace of Divine Mother for overall well being and Prosperity

As per South Indian Panchangam, Diwali falls on amavasya day of Aasweyuja masa but not in Karthika masa. Karthika masa will start after Diwali. Amavasya is known as no moon day but not new moon day. New moon day is Pratipath (Paadyami day) after amavasya. That's why that day chandra darshan muhutham also will be there. Diwali is considered as Jnana deepika festival. It is associated with illumination of Shat chakras in human body. Amavasya is place of Muladhara. Other intrinsic concepts / spiritual secrets may be known from Guru.
