I would recommend reading the tantra books on the Divine Mother Kālī and highly recommend practicing the mantras of the Divine Mother under active guidance of an accomplished guru.

Best to follow the family tradition and seek the advice of the priest who has performed the final rites rituals. Generally speaking, all auspicious events are started after a full year of the passing of loved ones.

I’ve always wondered about the verses and the number of “repetitions” and the number of “days” needed to chant. Intuitively, it seems practically impossible. A lot of verses require chanting the verses 1000 times for 45 days or so. Any of the slokas, when chanted at a moderate pace, takes on average about 20 seconds to complete. Chanting it to the rhythm of a “song” can take even longer, up to a minute or so. So 20 seconds for 1 repetition, theoretically that’s roughly 20,000 seconds for 1000 repetitions…or roughly 5-6 straight hours of chanting. The thing is, almost no one can devote that amount of time…EVERYDAY. Most people work, have school, kids, and other priorities in their daily lives. Yes maybe one or two days out of the week, someone can devote 5+ hours of chanting, but very VERY few have that amount of time available for 20-45 days consecutively, unless they are unemployed + no children, and lives in an environment where they won’t be disturbed at all for 5+ hours at the same time, everyday. This is why I question the authenticity of the “repetitions” and the “number of days” to chant. Even if those are authentic from the time the Soundarya Lahari was created, it was during a time where no one had 9-5 jobs, and daily life wasn’t as busy and stressful as modern life today. It was a rather simplistic life, and one definitely had ample time on their hands to do something like chant or meditate for hours on end without much disturbance from family, school, or jobs, or errands. If it is not authentic, then it must’ve been added on much later in time. But if it were so important, wouldn’t Shankara add them when he originally created it?!? Why leave them out, only for it to REQUIRE necessary repetitions and number of days chanting far into the future? It makes no sense. This is my personal opinion, but each sloka, they don’t actually say, or advise, or IMPLY the reader needs to “chant” anything. None of the slokas actually imply they should be outwardly reciting said slokas. Almost all of them are merely descriptions of the goddess in various ways, poses, colors, with or without certain objects, her emotions, her physical body, etc. And these verses seem to tell the reader to simply MEDITATE on that. Whatever the descriptions say in each sloka…simply MEDITATE on that specific description. There’s no clear instruction about literally saying each sloka out loud for extended periods of time. This is just my opinion. Something I’ve always wondered is, could future followers who added the “repetitions” and “number of days” and “food offerings” to the Soundarya Lahari years later…have done this to distract from the REAL way to worship Soundarya Lahari…which is just to meditate on the descriptions given in each sloka? Maybe they realized that much more simple way of worshipping is actually extremely powerful, and didn’t want many people in the future to possibly gain its benefits? That’s just speculation on my part. But I do feel the repetitions and number of days were never part of the original creation, since none of the slokas itself mention verbal recitation at all. Do you agree with this?

Namaste. Guru Ji did you have any plans to reveal theme of upasana of Kundalini? Mantra sadhanas (japa) and ways to worship Sri Kundalini as goddess in personified form, this is very rare information, difficult to find something, but same time I think many people would be interested, as this topic combines two very popular subjects - kundalini yoga and tantric ritual.

Hello, may I ask whether in nama 39 it is makutakara or mukutakara? The Challekere Brothers chant makutakara. Thank you!
