Please clarify after the words Om asya śrībrahmaśāpavimocana should be "mamtrasya" or "mantrasya"?

Guruji Ravi -- you are God's gift to mankind - Let GODDESS give you enough strength to carry this spiritual pursuit. I did buy couple of your books from Amazon. It is outstanding. Will need your blessings.

You cannot do homa with 1000 namas. You can do homa with verses only by adding swaha at the end of each sloka.

Namaskar Ravi Ji, Can we do Homa on Purnima or other special occasions with Lalita Sahasranamavali by replacing "Namaha" with "Swaha" ? If yes, any special precautions to be followed and oblations with cow ghee shall be OK? Please guide. Kind regards, Vineet Gupta

Hello Namesake, About a decade ago I asked the same question to one of the senior pujaris in Bramaramba Temple. He said stay clear of Ugra Devatas when you are in Gruhasta dharma. Unless you have a good guru, you are willing to face any consequences in material life and you are qualified student, you should stay clear of ugra devata sadhanas. For any enemy problem he suggested the following mantra from Durga Saptashloki: "sarvaa baadha prashamanam thrai lokasyaakhileshwari yevam evathvoyakaaryam asmad vairi vinashanam" Since this sloka is commmon knowledge, we dont get excited about it when compared to more esoteric mantras. But he said this is a powerful sloka and when practiced sincerely you will see results in a short period of time without any risk. and I concur. Like Krishnaji said, approach a Tantrik Guru for initiation or follow the safer option of approaching Maa Durga with the above Sloka.

Initiation is required for all tantric mantras and this is no exception. This mantra is for advanced srī vidyā upāsakas, who have a need for this mantra. Other exceptional cases are when a person is in great danger and has no other option left. Please seek a guru and get the mantra, if you desire it so strongly.

For Puraścaraṇa, the process includes Mantra japa, homam, tarpaṇa, mārjaṇa and brāhmaṇa bhojana. Homam is performed by invoking the fire god Agni, consecrating the fire pit etc. and finally invoking the deity and offering Homam with the japa mantra, by appending 'svāhā' at the end. For instance, for this particular 9 lettered mantra, the homam should be invoked as "hasti piśāci likhe svāhā svāhā". Note that "svāhā" is suffixed even if the mantra ends with one. For Tarpaṇa, Lord Varuṇa, the god of water/oceans must be invoked and a special vessel called viśeṣa arghya must be consecrated and the contents of which are used for this ritual. The japa mantra is suffixed with the deity name in the second case (Sanskrit nomenclature) followed by "tarpayāmi namaḥ". For this mantra, the relevant Tarpaṇa mantra would be "hasti piśāci likhe svāhā ucchiṣṭa gaṇapatim tarpayāmi namaḥ" For mārjaṇa, also called Abhiṣeka, the deity in the second case followed by "abhiṣiñcāmi" must be suffixed at the end of the japa mantra. For this mantra, it would be "hasti piśāci likhe svāhā ucchiṣṭa gaṇapatim abhiṣiñcāmi". The Bhojana part is to feed pious people, to get their blessings to help remove any wrong doings in the entire Puraścaraṇa process. The detailed procedures are listed in many Tantra manuals and particularly well illustrated in Mantra Mahodadhi. We will try to publish the detailed procedures applicable to all deities in a separate article, when time allows.
