Yes, you can. But if you are initiated into Mahāṣoḍaśī, it would be better to stay only with Mahāṣoḍaśī mantra.

!5 minutes is on the higher side. However, it depends upon your other practices. You should be able to lose your consciousness (unconscious state or trance) and enter into the state of samadhi. It is not only the time, that alone matters, but also the effect of our practice. Five minutes is good enough to trigger a good trance.

I am able to sustain for 5 minutes. I am trying to practice for 15 minutes. For how long should one practice to get the desired results?

This does not mean that one should not blink at all. By practice, one can surely increase the duration of non-blinking of eyes.

No initiation is necessary for reading Saundaryalahari. But one has to ensure proper pronunciation.

Does practising trataka with candle flames help in activating Ajna chakra? Is there any other simple way out to activate the third eye
