saṃskāra-s are generally done on the advise of a guru. This is not normally done, unless the mantra that is initiated has not been practiced before, or if the mantra japa has failed. In general, it can be done over a few days time and not on the same day. It all depends on the availability of time. If the mantra is really big, then the procedure will take time.

1. Dakṣiṇa Kāli in my opinion. 2. If you have the faith towards Her, She will transform you. This is something that you need to inculcate in yourself. Other forms of Kāli or Daśamahāvidyā-s may appeal to you. Choose the form of the Divine Mother that appeals to you the most. Please go through this entire series and then decide. Sometimes, the constellation where the natal moon is deposited in your birth chart, may also indicate the deity most suitable to you. But definitely choose your favorite form and stick to this deity. The other aspects to mantra sādhana are prāṇāyama that must be followed, to slow down your breath, adopt abdominal breathing and thereby gaining greater concentration naturally. Some Divine help is also needed to sustain the process and provide relief. This is dependant on the karma, as well as our own dedication and patience. 3. There are many books on Kāli devi published in the Hindi language. You may refer to the ones on Kāli upāsana and Kālikā purāṇa.

Understood sir. 1) As I understand there are different forms of Kali maa, which form of her is advisable to contemplate upon for an aspirant who seeks her? 2) Could you also explain on how can we achieve the required devotion & dedication to her, so that she changes our fate? 3) Could you also explain here or point me to a source where I can find all the details about all the forms of Kali worship? Thank you :)

When you are reciting the Viniyoga, it is done in the manner stated above, bīja on right shoulder, śakti on the left shoulder and kīlaka on the navel. For ṛṣyādi nyāsa, it is different. These are two different ways that this is done. You can choose both or anyone of them.

She is pleased by the worship offered by young women. She is also pleased by the worship offered by everyone. Even lack of concentration in Her worship is accepted. She changes our fate when our devotion and dedication to Her, reaches a crescent. Let us pray to the Divine Mother Dakṣiṇa Kālika to change our fortune and bless us with everything that we seek.

The tattva mudra or the mṛgi mudra are used using the associated fingers. The palm is not used, as far as I know. You may wish to clarify this with your guru.
