I have written a series on Vedas and ancestors and following is the link http://manblunder.com/articlesview/vedas-and-ancestors---part-1 There are a few Vedic verses, but they are related to cremation. To my knowledge, there are no specific mantras to appease ancestors. If I recollect one, I will post that here.

Ravi sir, Thank you for providing the correct verses of the mantra. One more thing I would like to ask you. Amongst the Sahasranamas, Lalitha sahsranama is considered as equal to all the vedas. There is a saying that if a devotee with full faith worships the Divine mother, he will not take janmas or there will be no rebirth. At the end will the soul merge with the universal mother. In the phala shruthi of the sahasranama it is mentioned that a person gets an inclination to learn this sahasranama if it was his last birth on this earth.

Can you please let me know what is the procedure to chant Sri Devi Khadgamala. Is an initiation from a Guru is necessary. There is a saying that if we chant Khadgamala it is like doing Sri chakra pooja.

Ravi - you said there are 3 types of Bala mantras. What are the different curse removal mantra for each type of the mantras? Is there a specific dhayana for each of the 3 mantras? Thank You!

These are the different dhyāna verses for Bālā mantra. 1.For obtaining wealth: Contemplate Her of golden luster, seated in padmāsana and holding a pomegrate and a lotus in Her hands. 2. For obtaining knowledge: She should be meditated on brahmarandra* as holding in Her four hands, varada mudra, a pot containing nectar, a book and abhaya mudra, exuding a stream of nectar (from abhaya mudra). *Brahmarandra is an orifice at the top of the head, a varma point at the top of skull known as athipati. This is the orifice at sahasrāra, the only orifice in psychic chakras that connect upwards, as against other chakras which connect both forward and backward. 3. For curing illness: She should be meditated with white garments. Description of hands is the same as in 2. She should be meditated having luster like that of moon. Her body should be contemplated as alphabets of Sanskrit. 4. For attraction: For captivating others, She should be meditated upon as holding a noose and had in Her hands, fully bedecked in gems and jewels and in a pleasant mood.
