Do we say "bandhanān or bandhanāth" and bandhanāth as say by some gurus gives instant benefit when recited in critical illness conditions?

This is a Vedic mantra (Yajur Veda I.viii.6.6; it is also available in Rig Veda) and any wording of Veda should not be changed. This is my personal opinion.

There is four secret bijas to be added to get Lord Shiva Darshan
"if one goes to lake manosarovar and goes neck deep, does japa
of the mrytunjaya mantram with the four secret bijas about 1000 times then lord
shiva appears before the sadhak granting them his darshan plus longevity. Almost
all the people I know who go to kailash do this sadhana and has NEVER failed.!
This is found in Rudramala there is the patala of lord mrityunjaya(need to be confirmed Ravi please)
OM GLAUM HUM KLIM KRIM (some texts say it are extra bijas but, these additional
bijas make the mantra too powerful and without a guru these do harm so I did not
place them, overall this mantra is a darshan matra mantra rather a iccha
sampurna mantra with those bijas this japa would grant anything)
TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
TRYAMBAKAM YAJAMAHE SUGANDHI PUSHTIVARDHANAM
URrVARrUKMIVA BANDHANAAN MRrTYUR MOKSHAYA MAAMRITAAT

As per Sharda Tilak and Prapanchsra mantra is Aum Jum Sah . Addition of Haum with pranav is see first time here.
There are certain sampraday that insist on replacing pranav with prasada (haum) and use the mantra as haum joom sah.
There is a practical purpose of using the mantra Haum Joom Sah .... It is used in giving or gaining physical strength to body. Same is true with addition of Haum with Chintamani beejam .

Some wise men also advice the trayakshar mantra "Hraum Joom Sah" for lord Shiv. What is your opinion on this?

Those who are initiated into this mantra may follow the complete procedure, others can recite just the mantra.

I am not initated into the mantra. a friend of mine has advised me to chant this mantra 108 times daily for my chronic ill health. i have gone though numerous websites where it says that without the viniyog etc there is no point in chanting the mantra. you need to be initated into the mantra by a guru for the mantra to work. i dont know any guru as such. can you please advise me on what i should do? can simply chanting this sloka without the proper vidhi yield any result? can you suggest any alternative solution?

Please recite it as many times as possible. Don't worry about the initiation for now. You may also consider reciting the Mṛta sañjīvana mantra as well. There is a link for this mantra on this page.

thank you for your reply. can you tell me if reciting the bajrang baan equivalent of the mrityunjay mantra ? i know that well. since the bajraang baan is available in totality i believe reciting it will be more beneficial than reciitng this mantra. please let me know your views on this. also i have researched that reciting the sankat nasahan stotra of shri ganesh is beneficial as well. can reciting the bjaraang baan and the above strotra be enough? please let me know your views. thank you.

Please recite any mantra or stotra that you have complete faith in. It is not important how many mantras or stotras we chant, but what is more effective is how many times we chant a particular mantra or stotra. It takes several chants to make any chant become active in our subconscious and until that happens, we don't see much transition happenning around us.
