This is what Scriptures say. During lunar eclipse, earth is placed exactly between sun and moon and during this time, gravitational force will become lower. To explain this spiritually, breathing shifts to suṣumna making spiritual practices easier. Any mantra will be effective. One has to choose only one mantra during eclipse time. Sun is said to represent Shiva and Moon is said represent Shakti. The ideal mantra would be ॐ ह्रीं नमःशिवाय॥ om hrīṁ namaḥśivāya ||
