It is not the right approach to go to Mahāṣoḍaśī directly. Instead, I would suggest you get into the krama (step-by-step process) of Śrī Vidyā and start with Mahāgaṇapati and Bālā. Gradually, based on your experiences and the japa performed, you may proceed towards Pañcadaśī, Vārāhī, Śyāmalā, Sampatkarī, Aśvarūḍhā and then Laghu Ṣoḍaśī. This in itself is Pūrṇābhiṣekha. You may then go towards Āmnāya dīkṣa and then Mahāṣoḍaśī, which should suffice for what is called the Medhā dīkṣa and Mahāpūrṇābhiṣekha. Going further towards all the mahāvidyās, guhyakālī etc will get you into the orbit of the Medhā Sāmrājya dīkṣa and may propel you towards the Nirvāṇa dīkṣa of Nirvāṇa Sundarī and Nirvāṇa Kālī. Without the proper initiations, you may not get a good experience with these high level deities whose main purpose is to grant you liberation. The process of liberation will induce extremely fast and painful karmic burning that most of us cannot tolerate. My personal choice is to stay with Bālā and Mahāgaṇapati until you are ready to surge towards self-realization. I would suggest you contact Shri Sriram of Manblunder. His contact details are on our Mantra Initiations page at the top of our website. You may contact anyone on that page and wait for their response before proceeding to contact another person of this organization.

Thank you for this guidance Krishnaji  Within four days of recitation, several improbable obstacles to further recitation appeared, and I had to cease. It was a bit unnerving. Perhaps later on I may be so blessed to get the proper initiation from the proper guru, but for now I will not proceed with this restricted and unsafe practice. However I am still so curious, what about this may make it so risky that perhaps good karma may prevent an unprepared and uninitiated from reciting? I’ve seen other ashtottara and sahasranama with similarly striking namas. May I ask what is it about this one that makes it so foreboding? Why, for example, might it be of a more secretive level than the sahasranama of Maa Guhya?

Dear Tripuraghna, Namaste! What is the source of this Viparīta Pratyaṅgirā Stotram Stotram and the other Pratyaṅgirā Stotram which you gave us earlier? The other one appears to have the Siddhilakṣmī bīja in the front making it Siddhilakṣmī Pratyaṅgirā Stotram. My intention is to publish them as separate articles with a translation.

I am so glad to hear that. Yes it was a strong urge to start chanting this Kavacha. I say it only once a day, early morning before leaving the house. And like you said, I have left it to my Divine Mother's will to guide me. I had mentioned this to my Guruji that I recite this Kavacam everyday. I am very much indebted to this site for the guidance. I also found my Guru from this site only. I am lucky to have found this site. May we all move forward in our spiritual quest. My humble pranaams to the makers of this site and for your selfless service to the path and guidance to us uninitiates who otherwise would have had no source to start our respective journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

The ending bījas are different. For the most part, they are the same. You may follow either of the mantras after obtaining a proper initiation from a Śrī Vidyā guru.

You may use it if guided by your guru or your intuition. I would generally follow what is suggested within the Stotram itself unless prescribed differently by my guru.

When in doubt, follow the guidance of the tantra or better still, that of the initiating guru. If you are doing this with self-initiation, you may continue if you have a very strong intuition to recite the Stotra. It is always best to have zero expectations and let the Divine Mother guide as She wills. If you are desirous of obtaining benefits, then my suggestion is to find an appropriate guru who can guide you to the mantra japa, yantra pūja and stotras.

Oh! Thank you for the warning. I have just started on a basic Siddhi Mantra. But I have been reciting this Kavacham once a day since the last 2 months. I had read somewhere in the site that reciting this Kavacam alone will not cause any issue & no other Mantras. Is reciting the Kavacam once a day a problem too?
