Thank you for introducing me to the excellent site Kamakotimandali.com. It seems to be the best site on Srividya I have come across so far.

Another illuminating article on OM by our beloved friend Mr. Ravi. This time, he is also quoting from Thirumanthiram, the ultimate literature in Saiva Tantra, The depth of which is unfathomable even by experts. This shows the depth of his knowledge in scriptures across languages. No wonder so many follow Mr. Ravi. Keep it up, sir. It is pertinent to mention here that the book on mantras by brighu states it is necessary to prefix "om" before the mantras as well as bijas taught in his book, in order for even the bijas to yield result. Bijas are highly concentrated "seeds" of energy and if they also need OM, we can deduce the requirement for Mantras. Agastya in his writing "manthira kandam" says take the moola mantra of any deity, and chant it by prefixing "OM" one lakh times in order to attain siddhi. Again anybody who have taken the upadesa of "Chintamani Bija" will know that it needs to be prefixed and suffixed with OM. Enough said I think.

There should be two OMs in Gayatri mantra. First as given in above article and second should be before tatsaviturvareṇyam. It is like follows.Om |bhūrbhuvassuvaḥ |Om tatsaviturvareṇyam |bhargo devasya dhīmahi |dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt ||Any Veda mantra should be recited with Swara only. Swara will change the meaning of mantra. Hence, it should be recited with proper swara.

Veda mantras should not be recited with svara, except in the case of Sama Veda.

It is Kamakoti, not Kamakodi.
