First one should concentrate on mantra; then mantra should be aligned with breath. When perfection is attained in both, it would be ideal to fix concentration on ajna chakra. When concentration is fixed on ajna chakra, you are bound to enter into the state of micro trance (trance lasting for a few second to a minute or two, where mantra and breath are not observed). There cannot be any limitation for recitations. Self can be realized only through the mind. In order to control the mind, breath alignment with mantra is necessary. One inhalation should be synced with on recitation of "Om Namashivaya" and similarly one exhalation should be synced with "Om Namashivaya". By doing so, the mind is not distracted and will get fixed both on the mantra and the breath. Thus, one gets disconnected from sensory organs at least for that moment. When this is practiced for longer duration, say about ten minutes, at least for couple of minutes, one is bound to get disconnected from sensory organs. With practice, this two minutes will increase to three, four minutes, etc. Practicing this for ten minutes twice a day is sufficient. At some point of time, mind will become quiet. This is the starting point for spiritual practice.

Thank you for this amazing explanation. How many times should one recite Om Namashivaya to realize him as one's own self and get his darshan and what is the proper way to recite this mantra. I have read your post on alignment of breath for mantra recitations and how can one recite Shiva mantra with breath and if possible, can you provide the meditation also.

To my knowledge no. There are many mantras for different forms of Shakti. But Shiva does not have many forms. He is always Shiva and His Power is known as Shakti. As there are different types of powers, Shakti is known through different forms and each form has certain mantras. But Shiva is one. He is Brahman as well as individual soul. Even though He is worshiped as Bhairva, Mahākālā, Rudra, etc ultimately He remains the same. Hence the only powerful mantra for Him is "Om Namashivaya".

How can one's sins be eradicated if he takes a dip in holy waters? It is against the theory of "Law of Karma" which is also know as "Law of the Lord". As far as fake gurus are concerned, they are not to be blamed as they want to mint money through wrongful means. The problem lies in the mindset of people. How can spirituality be commercialized? Does God has any monetary value? It is absolute ignorance that make a person to approach these fake gurus. Unfortunately, even if a True Guru shouts from the top of a mountain and says simple ways to realize God, nobody listens, as there is no price for HIS teachings. Ignorant people consider these TRUE GURUs as worthless. One can attain liberation by following the teachings of a TRUE GURU. No body is willing to listen because they guide their students gradually but steadily. One can enter into the spiritual path coincidentally in a matter three to six months. This period is extremely crucial. Once a student crosses this stage, he can move forward comfortably.
