1. Brāhmī dhyānam (ब्राह्मी ध्यानम्) -

 

daṇḍaṃ kamaṇḍaluṃ paścād-akṣa-sūtraṃ mahābhayam

bibhratī kanakacchāyāṃ brāhmī kṛṣṇājinojjvalām

दण्डं कमण्डलुं पश्चादक्षसूत्रं महाभयम् ।

बिभ्रती कनकच्छायां ब्राह्मी कृष्णाजिनोज्ज्वलाम् ॥

 

                                Let us mediate on the Divine Mother Brahmī, the cause of the entire Creation, who holds a stick, a water pot and an akṣa mālā (consisting of the Sanskrit alphabet marking all the vibrations manifested in the entire Creation). She removes all types of major and minor fears. She is draped in black antelope skin and is glowing with a golden hue.

 

    1. Vaiṣṇavī dhyānam (वैष्णवी ध्यानम्) -

 

cakraṃ ghaṇṭāṃ kapālaṃ ca śaṅkhañca dadhatīṃ karaiḥ

tamālaśyāmalā dhyeyā vaiṣṇavīvibhramojjvalām

चक्रं घण्टां कपालं च शङ्खञ्च दधतीं करैः ।

तमालश्यामला ध्येया वैष्णवीविभ्रमोज्ज्वलाम् ॥

 

                Let us mediate upon the Divine Mother Vaiṣṇavī, the cause for the Preservation of the entire Creation, who holds a disc (cakra), a bell, a skull and a conch in Her arms. She is dark blue in complexion and dazzles with the a blue radiance.

 

    1. Māheśvarī dhyānam (माहेश्वरी ध्यानम्) -

 

śūlaṃ paraśvadhaṃ kṣudraṃ dundhubhīṃ nṛkaroṭikām

vahantī himasaṅkāśā dhyeyā māheśvarī śubhā

शूलं परश्वधं क्षुद्रं दुन्धुभीं नृकरोटिकाम् ।

वहन्ती हिमसङ्काशा ध्येया माहेश्वरी शुभा ॥

 

                Let us meditate upon the Divine Mother Māheśvarī, the cause of Destruction and transformation in the entire Creation, who holds a trident and an axe in Her arms and in a rapturous dance. She is snow white in complexion and radiant with white light.

 

    1. Kaumārī dhyānam (कौमारी ध्यानम्) -

 

aṅkuśaṃ daṇḍakhaṭvāṅgai pāśaṃ ca dadhatīkaraiḥ

bandhūkapuṣpasaṅkāśā kumārī kāmadāyinī

अङ्कुशं दण्डखट्वाङ्गै पाशं च दधतीकरैः ।

बन्धूकपुष्पसङ्काशा कुमारी कामदायिनी ॥

 

                Let us meditate upon the Divine Mother Kaumārī, the consort of Kumārā, the commander of all celestial forces, who holds in Her arms, an elephant goad, a stick, a goad with a mounted skull and a rope. She resembles the light yellow complexion of the Indian laurel tree flowers (Terminalia tomentosa) and is the fulfiller of all tasks and wishes!

 

    1. Aparājitā dhyānam (अपराजिता ध्यानम्) -

 

akṣasrajaṃ bījaparaṃ kapālaṃ dadhatī karaiḥ

vahantī hemasaṅkāśā mohalakṣmīḥ aparājitā

अक्षस्रजं बीजपरं कपालं दधती करैः ।

वहन्ती हेमसङ्काशा मोहलक्ष्मीः अपराजिता ॥

 

                Let us meditate upon the Divine Mother Aparājitā, the undefeated, who holds in Her arms an akṣa mālā consisting of the vibrations of the entire Creation from ‘a’ to ‘kṣa’, as well as a skull. She is of a golden complexion and is the mesmerizer of the entire Creation and is always victorious in every pursuit!

 

    1. Vārāhī dhyānam (वाराही ध्यानम्) -

 

muśalaṃ karavālaṃ ca kheṭakaṃ dadhatī halam

karaiścaturbhirvārāhī dhyeyā kālaghanacchaviḥ

मुशलं करवालं च खेटकं दधती हलम् ।

करैश्चतुर्भिर्वाराही ध्येया कालघनच्छविः ॥

 

                Let us meditate upon the Divine Mother Vārāhī, the boar faced Protectress and consumer of all karma, who holds in Her arms, a staff, a sword, a shield and a plough. She is of a dark complexion and is fierce in appearance.

 

    1. Nārasiṃhī dhyānam (नारसिंही ध्यानम्) -

 

śaṅkhaṃ ca cakraṃ ca gadaṃ ca padmaṃ dadhatī karaiḥ

nīlāmbarīsamā dhyeyā nārasiṃhī samīritā

शङ्खं च चक्रं च गदं च पद्मं दधती करैः ।

नीलाम्बरीसमा ध्येया नारसिंही समीरिता ॥

 

                Let us meditate upon the Divine Mother Nārasiṃhī, the great Protectress, who holds in Her arms, a conch shell, a disc, a mace and a lotus. She radiates with the brilliance of a blue sapphire.

 

    1. Cāmuṇḍā dhyānam (चामुण्डा ध्यानम्) -

 

śūlaṃ kṛpāṇaṃ nṛśiraḥ kapālaṃ dadhatī karaiḥ

muṇḍasraṅmaṇḍitā dhyeyā cāmuṇḍā raktavigrahā

शूलं कृपाणं नृशिरः कपालं दधती करैः ।

मुण्डस्रङ्मण्डिता ध्येया चामुण्डा रक्तविग्रहा ॥

 

                Let us meditate upon the Divine Mother Cāmuṇḍā, the remover of all misery, who holds in Her arms, a trident, a sword, a human head and a skull cup. She is adorned with a garland of skulls and is red in complexion and radiance.

abhīṣṭa siddhiṃ me dehi śaraṇāgata vatsala

bhaktyā samarpaye tubhyaṃ chaturth-āvaraṇārcanaṃ

अभीष्ट सिद्धिं मे देहि शरणागत वत्सल ।

भक्त्या समर्पये तुभ्यं चतुर्थावरणार्चनं ॥

 

Hold a flower for bali and utter the mantra:-

 

   pūjitā starpitāḥ santu

   पूजिता स्तर्पिताः सन्तु

 

  1. Similarly, on the ends of the petals meeting the enclosing maṇḍala circle, the 8 Bhairavas associated with the aṣṭa mātṛka-s must be worshipped. Starting from the east, as depicted on the yantra (deva pūjā format). The dhyāna must be performed prior to the worshipping the deities.

 

graha-bhūta-piśācādyās-trailokye vicaranti ye

dūrādāśu palāyante bhairava tava darśanāt

ग्रहभूतपिशाचाद्यास्त्रैलोक्ये विचरन्ति ये ।

दूरादाशु पलायन्ते भैरव तव दर्शनात् ॥

 

                O Divine Father Bhairava, the grahas (planets and other heavenly bodies), piśācās (ghosts, goblins, demons etc.) prevalent in all realms, fear your presence and do not trouble those who veherently worship you in all your forms!

अभीष्ट सिद्धिं मे देहि शरणागत वत्सल ।

भक्त्या समर्पये तुभ्यं षष्टमावरणार्चनं ॥

 

Hold a flower for bali and utter the mantra:-

 

   pūjitā starpitāḥ santu

   पूजिता स्तर्पिताः सन्तु

 

  1. Now worship the 10 Dikpālaka-s (Cardinal Lords) around the Bhūpura gates, starting from the Geographic East direction. We must invoke a dhyāna śloka verse before proceeding further.

 

indrāgniyamanirṛtiḥ varuṇavāyusomeśāḥ

brahmā'nanta sahitāḥ prasīdantu sadā mama 1

इन्द्राग्नियमनिरृतिः वरुणवायुसोमेशाः ।

ब्रह्माऽनन्त सहिताः प्रसीदन्तु सदा मम ॥ १ ॥

 

                May the cardinal directional lords Indra, Agni, Nirṛti, Varuṇa, Vāyu, Soma, Īśā, Brahma and Ananta be pleased with us at all times and shower their complete blessings and ensure our success in all endeavors.
