Atha Śrī Dvyakṣara Haridrā Gaṇapati Mahāmantraḥ (अथ श्री द्व्यक्षर हरिद्रा गणपति महामन्त्रः) :-

Purpose :- To attain knowledge of the Divine, Spiritual wealth and accomplishment of all desires, material and spiritual. Victory over all enemies and competitions and ushering in auspiciousness.

Introduction :- Śrī Gaṇapati is verily the eternal singular reality – Brahman Itself. He bestows spiritual knowledge, removes all obstacles in our progress and dispels all ignorance to help us expand our consciousness to its highest level. This one lettered mantra is also His seed bīja mantra, which also represents the Gāyatrī mātṛkā śakti, enhances the faculties of discernment, assimilation of knowledge and progress on material and spiritual fronts. The sincere devotees of Lord Gaṇeśa will experience great comforts and well-being in their lives and He is adored and duly worshipped before the start of any new beginnings. Śrī Haridrā Gaṇapati is invoked to gain victory over all enemies, internal and external thereby heralding auspiciousness.

 

  1. Viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) :-

 

asya haridrāgaṇapati mantrasya

vasiṣṭha ṛṣiḥ

gāyatrī chandaḥ

haridrā gaṇapati devatā

ga bījaṃ

la śaktiḥ

sarvārtha siddhaye jape viniyogaḥ

अस्य हरिद्रागणपति मन्त्रस्य ।

वसिष्ठ ऋषिः ।

गायत्री छन्दः ।

हरिद्रा गणपति देवता ।

ग बीजं ।

ल शक्तिः ।

सर्वार्थ सिद्धये जपे विनियोगः ॥

 

Meaning:- This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Haridrā Gaṇapati and perform His mantra japa to obtain His complete grace in all aspects, and to obtain the four puruṣārtha-s – dharma (justice, law), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation) and all desires that one may seek from the Divine. The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is the obstacle remover Lord Vasiṣṭha, the meter (chandas) for the mantra is Gāyatrī and the deity is Śrī Haridrā Gaṇapati. The seed (bīja) mantra is ‘ga’ and the power (śakti) to invoke the mantra is ‘la’.

Run both the palms all over the body.

Open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

Cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to finger tips.

gaum̐ netratrayāya vauṣaṭ

गौँ नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट्

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājña cakra.

gaḥ astrāya phaṭ

गः अस्त्राय फट्

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand.

iti ṣaḍaṅga nyāsaḥ

इति षडङ्ग न्यासः

 

 

bhūr-bhuva-ssuvarom-iti digbandhaḥ ॥

भूर्भुवस्सुवरोमिति दिग्बन्धः॥

(May all the directions be bound and no interferences come from any direction.)

 

  1. Dhyānaṃ (ध्यानं) :-

 

haridrābhaṃ caturbāhuṃ hāridravasanaṃ vibhum

pāśāṅkuśadharaṃ devaṃ modakaṃ dantameva ca

हरिद्राभं चतुर्बाहुं हारिद्रवसनं विभुम् ।

पाशाङ्कुशधरं देवं मोदकं दन्तमेव च ॥

 

        Meaning: Salutations to the Divine Lord Haridrā Gaṇeśa, the remover of all obstacles, turmeric-yellow complexioned and also clad in turmeric yellow garments. He appears bearing a noose and an elephant goad on His upper set of arms, a sweetmeat modaka and a tusk on the lower set of arms. He is prevalent everywhere.

 

        The yellow complexion indicates His demeanor to fight against all enemies, internal and external. The noose – pāśa, is for drawing the deluded beings referred to as paśus back to their own true reality and away from the cosmic illusion of māyā, which supplants the ego and an individual identity within us. The elephant goad Aṅkuśa, represents the driving away of stubborn karma that binds us to the worldly existence and the eternal cycle of life and death, cause and effects of the material reality. The modaka represents the sweet benefits that are offered by the Divine Lord to all His devotees. The broken tusk represents His status as the Singular Eternal Reality as Parabrahman.

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the ring fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

sam̐ - sarvātmikāyai sarvopacāra pūjām samarpayāmi

 

सँ - सर्वात्मिकायै सर्वोपचार पूजाम् समर्पयामि

 

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of each fingers of both hands touching each other and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

 

  1. Japamālā mantraṃ (जपमाला मन्त्रं) :-

Recite the below mantra once, to pray to the japa māla and invoke the blessings for a fruitful japa.

 

om̐ māṃ māle mahāmāye sarvamantra svarūpiṇi ।
caturvarga stvayinyasta stasmānye siddhidā bhava ॥

ॐ मां माले महामाये सर्वमन्त्र स्वरूपिणि ।
चतुर्वर्ग स्त्वयिन्यस्त स्तस्मान्ये सिद्धिदा भव॥

 

  1. Guru Mantra (गुरु मन्त्र) :-

   Recite the following guru mantra once, to seek the blessings of all gurus and the Guru.

Meaning:

The praava bīja om̐ () represents the Śabda Brahman, which is the super-consciousness Itself, manifested as sound. It consists of – ‘au’ signifying healing and deep cleansing, ‘’ for removal of misery.

The Lakṣmī bīja (seed) mantra śrīm̐ (श्रीँ ) represents wealth, prosperity, abundance and fertility. In the context of the mantra, it is for the fructification of the desire to self-realize and gain liberation. The bīja consists of – ‘ś’ indicating Mahālakṣmī the manifestor of all types of wealth, abundance, fruition of wishes etc., Repha (r) indicating Dhana or wealth, ‘ī’ indicating Tuṣṭi or satisfaction, nāda indicating Parā or Śakti and Vindu () indicating uḥkhahara or removal of all miseries.

The Mahāmāyā bīja (seed) mantra hrīm̐ (ह्रीँ) represents the power of Creation, Preservation and Destruction. Elevation in society and high positions of power are also indicated. The power to gain, in the context of this main mantra, is knowledge that can be used for attaining any desires and ultimately gain liberation. The bīja hrīm̐ consists of – ‘h’ meaning Brahman/Śiva, ‘r’ meaning fire and drive within us, ‘ī’ meaning energy and the source of all power that helps us ascend, ‘’ is for removal of all miseries and facilitation of self-realization and ultimate liberation.

The kāma bīja (seed) mantra klīm̐ ( क्लीँ  ) represents the fulfillment of all desires, material and spiritual. In the context of this mantra, it is for spiritual desires. The bīja consists of – ‘ka’ is for Kāmadeva/Kṛṣṇa indicating desires and wishes, ‘la’ for Indra indicating victory, ‘ī’ for Tuṣṭi indicating satisfaction, ‘’ for Sukha meaning happiness and removal of misery.]

The Bhūbīja (seed) mantra glaum̐ (ग्लौँ ) represents all the Earthly accomplishments and material desires. The bīja consists of – ‘ga’ meaning gakāra associated with discerning knowledge, wisdom and also removal of all obstacles. The letter ‘la’ represents Smṛtistha indicating remembrance of all knowledge. The letter ‘au’ signifying healing and deep cleansing. Nāda indicates Parā or Śakti and Vindu ‘’ indicates Duḥkhahara or removal of all miseries.

The Gaṇeśa (seed) mantra gam̐ (गँ )  represents removal of all obstacles and bestowal of complete success, prosperity and auspiciousness in all aspects. The bīja consists of – ‘ga’ indicating Lord Gaṇeśa, the remover of all obstacles and Vindu ‘’ indicating Duḥkhaharaṇa or removal of all miseries.

The Kūrca bīja (seed) mantra hūm̐ (हूँ) consists of – ‘h’ is Brahman/Śiva, ‘ū’ is expansion of power and excellence, ‘’ is for removal of misery. The overall purpose is protection and stability.

The Vadhu bīja mantra Strīm (स्‍त्रीं) consists of – ‘s’, the bīja of Vadhu (bride) and Durgottāraṇa, indicating protection from crisis, ‘t’ is Tāraka representing savior energy, ‘r’ is Repha, signifying liberation (Mukti), ‘ī’ is Mahamaya (the Great Illusion) and the dot, ‘’ consists of Nādā or Viśvamātrā and Vindu for Duḥkhahara, indicating the ability and strength to overcome misery unhappiness.

   Take water in uttaraṇi (spoon) and by reciting the following śloka, offer the water to the earth.

 

    guhyātiguhyagoptrā tvaṁ gṛhāṇāsmat-kṛtaṁ japam।
    siddhirbhavatu me deva tvatprasādānmayi sthirā ॥

   गुह्यातिगुह्यगोप्त्रा त्वं गृहाणास्मत्-कृतं जपम्।

   सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देव त्वत्प्रसादान्मयि स्थिरा ॥

 

  1. japānaṃtaraṃ mālāmantraṃ (जपानंतरं मालामन्त्रं) :-

Recite the below śloka and mantra, followed by placing the māla upon the top of the head and then place it back in the māla bag and conceal it. It should NOT be worn.

śubhaṃ kuruṣya me bhadre yaśo vīryaṃ ca dehime॥
