Meaning:- We meditate upon the terrifying form of the Divine Mother Jaya Durgā Devī, seated on a menacing lion and radiating a dark complexion resembling that of a rain-laden dark cloud. She holds a trident/śūla, cakra/discus, sword/kṛpāṇa and a conch. She has the lustre of a moon and has three eyes (elevated ājñā cakra). Her terrifying glance is enough to invoke great fear in the minds of enemies. She has a bandana on Her head with a crescent moon shining forth. She is resplendent in Her glory that radiates upon all the three realms. The Divine Mother should be prayed to, if one is keen upon achieving all round victory in all the three realms and for attaining the most difficult of siddhis.

Respected sir, The Agni Purana mentions three different forms of this mantra. The ten syllabled mantra with pranava, with hrillekha and with both pranava and hrillekha. Also, the mantra has been deemed appropriate for the worship of Devi Chandika in 20 or 10 handed form surrounded by 9 chandikas. The mantra and its nyasa is given differently in agni puran. The mantra you have described here along with jaya Durga dhyana and nyasa is as per sharda tilak and tantrasaar I believe. Sir do you know the rishi and chand of these mantras? Sir, I wish to know, why these differences exist and why do they exist to such an extent that the same mantra has different dhyana and nyasa as well as rishi and cchand?

The Divine Mother manifests Herself in myriad ways and each form can have various mantras and could be revealed to many seers. Whoever has revealed the mantras for general welfare, the same has been accorded to those seers. The metric composition suggested by the seers may also vary even if the number of letters are same. It is to be understood that there are various classes and sub-classes of Chandas with varying metrics.

Chowkhamba version needs a better commentary. Even in this chapter the sanskrit and hindi part are not in sync. So need to proceed carefully.
