Sarvabhayahara śrīnṛsiṃha mantrarāja dvātriṃśatyakṣara mahāmantraḥ

Initiation – Required.
Purpose – Wish fulfillment and complete protection from all dangers and misfortunes.
Prologue – Lord Nṛsiṁha is a very aggressive form of Lord Viṣṇu capable of destroying all types of enemies, miseries, dangerous diseases and adverse health conditions impacting us. He is also prayed to relieve us from all karmic debts, including monetary and spiritual. This particular mantra is called a “Mantra Rāja” meaning a King of mantras capable of conferring excellent benefits for overall welfare to the devotee and all their loved ones.
The words “mṛtyu mṛtyum” indicating the termination of the life and death cycle, attest the ability of this mantra to confer liberation – mukti/mokṣa to the sincere sādhakas by the grace of Śrī Nṛsiṃha. This mantra capable of such benefits, becomes a Mantra Rāja, the King of all mantras!
1.Viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) -

मम मनोवाञ्चा फल सिद्ध्यर्थे श्रीगुरोरनुज्ञाया महामन्त्र जपे विनियोगः ॥
Meaning - This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Nṛsiṃha in our heart, perform mantra japa to obtain His complete grace in all aspects, including the four puruṣārthas – dharma (following own nature), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation) and all desires that one may seek from the Divine. The sage who visually saw this mantra (ṛṣiḥ) is Lord Brahmā, the Creator. The meter (chandas) for the mantra is Anuṣṭup of thirty-two syllables and its variations. The deity is Śrī Nṛsiṃha, the seed (bījaṃ) is ham̐, the power (śakti) is ram̐. The key (kīlaka) that binds the mantra is kṣraum̐. By the grace and command of our guru and the guru lineage, we pledge to undertake the mantra japa in full earnest.

Meaning: May the directions be charmed and bound, to prevent any external obstacles from the powers residing in the triads – the Earth, atmosphere and the heavens.

6.Dhyānam (ध्यानम् ) -
There are five different types of meditations described below. One can use any of them for their mantra japa and obtain the desired benefits.
a.[For getting rid of extremely bad karmic influences, miseries and distressing times, this meditation can be used.]
udyat sahasrārka bhāsaṃ bhīṣaṇākṛti vajratulyekṣaṇaṃ vahni-kānti nānābhujair-vṛtam ।
nakhair-dhārita-daityeśam rakta-dhārākta-kāyakaṃ krūra-karmādi-viṣaye smaredevaṃ bhayānakam ॥ 1 ॥
उद्यत् सहस्रार्क भासं भीषणाकृति वज्रतुल्येक्षणं वह्निकान्ति नानाभुजैर्वृतम् ।
नखैर्धारितदैत्येशम् रक्तधाराक्तकायकं क्रूरकर्मादिविषये स्मरेदेवं भयानकम् ॥ १ ॥
Salutations to Lord Śrī Nṛsiṃha, who shines forth with the brilliance of a zillion suns and appears extremely terrifying. He bears diamond teeth and emits extreme heat and holds various weapons in His multiple sets of arms. He tears apart the bodies of the daityas with His arms bearing diamond nails. He presents an extremely gory blood gutting scenario when engaged with inimical forces. May the Divine Lord rip apart all our bad karma and negative influences, causing immense harm and fear in us. May He come to our rescue at all our distressing times and save us!
b.[For obtaining protection from all harmful diseases and health conditions as well as extreme dangers.]
nṛṣiṃhaṃ taṃ mahābhīmaṃ kālānala samaprabhaṃ antra-mālā-dharaṃ raudraṃ kaṇṭhe hāreṇa śobhitam ।
nāga-yajñopavītaṃ ca pañcānana suśobhitaṃ candramauliṃ nīlakaṇṭhaṃ prativaktre trilocanam ।
bhujaiḥ paridha saṅkāśair-daśabhiścopa śobhitaṃ akṣasūtraṃ gadāṃ padmaṃ śaṅkhaṃ gokṣīra sannibham ।
dhanuśca musalaṃ caiva vibhrāṇaṃ cakramuttamaṃ khaḍgaṃ śūlaṃ ca vāṇam ca nṛhariṃ rudragopanam ।
indranīlakanīlābhaṃ candrābhaṃ varṇasannibhaṃ pūrvodayottara jvālādūrdhvāsyaṃ sarvavarṇakam ।
evamugra hariṃ dhyāyet sarvavyādhi nivṛttaye ॥ 2 ॥
नृसिंहं तं महाभीमं कालानल समप्रभं अन्त्रमालाधरं रौद्रं कण्ठे हारेण शोभितम् ।
नागयज्ञोपवीतं च पञ्चानन सुशोभितं चन्द्रमौलिं नीलकण्ठं प्रतिवक्त्रे त्रिलोचनम् ।
भुजैः परिध सङ्काशैर्दशभिश्चोप शोभितं अक्षसूत्रं गदां पद्मं शङ्खं गोक्षीर सन्निभम् ।
धनुश्च मुसलं चैव विभ्राणं चक्रमुत्तमं खड्गं शूलं च वाणम् च नृहरिं रुद्रगोपनम् ।
इन्द्रनीलकनीलाभं चन्द्राभं वर्णसन्निभं पूर्वोदयोत्तर ज्वालादूर्ध्वास्यं सर्ववर्णकम् ।
एवमुग्र हरिं ध्यायेत् सर्वव्याधि निवृत्तये ॥ २ ॥
Salutations to Lord Śrī Nṛsiṃha, who has an enormous and extremely terrifying appearance with apocalyptic fires emerging from Him providng an extremely dazzling presence. He is adorned with a garland of intestines further enhancing to His gory appearance. He is adorned with a serpent wrapped around His upper body like a sling, and a crescent moon on His diadem and is blue throated and three-eyed on all His multiple heads (four or eight). On His ten upper arms appearing close to each other, He displays a māla (akṣasūtraṃ), mace (gadāṃ), a lotus (padmam), a conch (śaṅkhaṃ), fresh cow milk (gokṣīra), a bow (dhanuśa), a pestle (musalaṃ), a discus (cakra), a sword (khaḍgaṃ), a trident (śūlaṃ) and an arrow (vāṇam) offering all types of protection from any type of ailments, miseries, enemies, bad karmic influences etc. His left (East facing) head is emerald green, right (West facing) head is blue sapphire and the upper is white complexioned and all His heads are emitting all engulfing flames. May we meditate upon this form of Lord Viṣṇu (Hari) to get relief from all types of dangers and harmful ailments and health conditions as well as bad karmic influences affecting our progress in all walks of life.
The akṣamāla holds the power of all the mātṛkā śaktis in the entire Creation. The gadā/mace will break any type of barriers that may exist stalling our progress. The padma/lotus helps in evolve both materially and spiritually and bestow immense prosperity, peace and contentment. The conch/śaṅkhaṃ will turn us inward to the influence of the mātṛkā vibrations. The gokṣīra/cow milk is for sustenance and good health. The bow/dhanuśa is for preempting and shooting down all types of bad influences heading our way. The pestle/musalam is for finely grinding karmas from further germinating and re-emerging again. The discus/cakra will blind us away from all distractions and keep us focused on the Lord. The sword/khaḍgaṃ will cut through the fabric of karma and make way for us to progress. The trident/śūlaṃ breaks through all the triads manifested in the Creation and allows the devotee to witness their own true self. The arrow/vāṇam is for piercing through the cakras and bandhas limiting the flow of the Divine Kuṇḍalinī śakti within us.

nṛsiṃhaḥ sarvalokeśaḥ sarvābharaṇa-bhūṣitaḥ dvau vidhāraṇa karmāṇau dvau janodhāraṇakṣamau ।
śaṅkha cakra dharau ramyāvanyau bāṇa-dhanur-dharau khaḍga-kheṭaka-dharāvanyau dvau gadā-padma dhāriṇau ।
pāśāṅkuśa dharāvanyau dvau ripor-mukuṭārpitau iti ṣoḍaśador-daṇḍa-maṇḍitaṃ nṛhariṃ vibhum ।
dhyayed-ambuja nīlābham-ugra karmaṇyananyadhīḥ ॥ 3 ॥
नृसिंहः सर्वलोकेशः सर्वाभरणभूषितः द्वौ विधारण कर्माणौ द्वौ जनोधारणक्षमौ ।
शङ्ख चक्र धरौ रम्यावन्यौ बाणधनुर्धरौ खड्गखेटकधरावन्यौ द्वौ गदापद्म धारिणौ ।
पाशाङ्कुश धरावन्यौ द्वौ रिपोर्मुकुटार्पितौ इति षोडशदोर्दण्डमण्डितं नृहरिं विभुम् ।
ध्ययेदम्बुज नीलाभमुग्र कर्मण्यनन्यधीः ॥ ३ ॥
Salutations to the sixteen-armed Divine Lord Śrī Nṛsiṃha, the Lord of all realms, adorned with all types of precious ornaments and sustaining the entire Creation. He is the greatest benefactor, protector and destroyer of all accumulated karma. He bears in His five sets of arms, various armaments such as, a conch (śaṅkha), a discus (cakra), an arrow (bāṇa), a bow (dhanur), a sword (khaḍga), a shield (kheṭaka), a mace (gadā), a lotus (padma), a rope (pāśa) and an elephant goad (aṅkuśa). Three sets of arms are meant to tear apart all enemies and karmic influences impacting the devotee and their loved ones. May this mediation of the Lord help accomplish all our desired tasks and invoke protection from all types of calamities and health disorders impacting us.
The pairs of discus and conch blind us away from all distractions and turn us inward, The bow and arrow help penetrate the cakras for the rise of the Kuṇḍalinī śakti. The sword and shield cut through karmic barriers and block against any inward karmic influences. The mace and lotus break the toughest karmic barriers and help in our spiritual and material progress. The rope and goad pull us towards the Lord and break all other barriers that block our path to the Divine.

nṛsiṃhaṃ sarva-bhūṣāḍhyaḥ sarva-siddhikaraḥ prabhuḥ dakṣiṇe khaḍgacakre ca paraśuṃ pāśameva ca ।
halaṃ ca musalaṃ samyagabhayaṃ cāṅkuśaṃ tathā paṭṭiśaṃ bhindipālaṃ ca kheṭa-tomara-mudgarān ।
vāmabhāga-karaiḥ śaṅkhaṃ pāśaṃ ca śūlakaṃ hutāśana varaṃ śaktiṃ samyaṅ mṛṇmaya-kuṇḍikām ।
kārmukaṃ tarjanī mudrāṃ gadāṃ ḍamarum-arthikān kara-dvandvaiḥ kramāc-chatror-jānu-mastaka-pattalam ।
ūrdhvokṛtābhyāṃ hastābhyāṃ cāntramālādharaṃ hariṃ adhaḥ stithābhyāṃ hiraṇyaka vidāraṇam ।
priyaṅkaraṃ ca bhaktānāṃ daityānāṃ ca bhayaṅkaraṃ nṛsiṃhaṃ saṃ-smaren-nityaṃ mahāmṛtyu-bhayāpaham ॥ 4 ॥
नृसिंहं सर्वभूषाढ्यः सर्वसिद्धिकरः प्रभुः दक्षिणे खड्गचक्रे च परशुं पाशमेव च ।
हलं च मुसलं सम्यगभयं चाङ्कुशं तथा पट्टिशं भिन्दिपालं च खेटतोमरमुद्गरान् ।
वामभागकरैः शङ्खं पाशं च शूलकं हुताशन वरं शक्तिं सम्यङ् मृण्मयकुण्डिकाम् ।
कार्मुकं तर्जनी मुद्रां गदां डमरुमर्थिकान् करद्वन्द्वैः क्रमाच्छत्रोर्जानुमस्तकपत्तलम् ।
ऊर्ध्वोकृताभ्यां हस्ताभ्यां चान्त्रमालाधरं हरिं अधः स्तिथाभ्यां हिरण्यक विदारणम् ।
प्रियङ्करं च भक्तानां दैत्यानां च भयङ्करं नृसिंहं संस्मरेन्नित्यं महामृत्युभयापहम् ॥ ४ ॥
Salutations to the Divine Lord Śrī Nṛsiṃha who is adorned with all types of ornaments and is the cause of the materialization of all our desires and accomplishment of all tasks. He holds in His right arms, a sword (khaḍga), a discus (cakra), an axe (paraśu) and a rope (pāśa), a plough (halam), a pestle (musalam), the absolute and unassailable protection granting and fear allaying Abhaya mudra, an elephant goad (aṅkuśa), a spear (paṭṭiśaṃ), an arrow of the size of a javelin (bhindipālaṃ), a shield (kheṭa), a lance (tomara) and a hammer (mudgara). Adorned on His left arms are, a conch (śaṅkha), a rope (pāśa), a trident (śūlaṃ), a fire-emitter (hutāśana), the wish granting Vara mudra, a spear (śaktiṃ), a winnow (mṛṇmaya) and a pot (kuṇḍikām), a bow (kārmukaṃ), a raised forefinger (tarjanī), a seal (mudrāṃ), a mace (gadā) and a drum (ḍamarum) to announce His presence. Other sets of arms are deployed for holding the head and knees of the enemies and for ripping apart the guts from the abdomen. He is adorned with a māla of intestines on His neck and lower arms. He has a golden complexion resembling a lion. He adores and protects His devotees and scares away all their enemies. May we meditate upon Him always and lose the fear of death of ourselves, our loved ones, our possessions and everything we desire for.
The sword (khaḍga) cuts through the fabric of karma. The discus (cakra) will blind us away from all distractions. The axe (paraśu) is for cutting down firmly established karmic obstacles. The rope (pāśa) will pull us towards the Divine. The plough (halam) is for planting the seeds of good karma. The pestle (musalam) grinds the seeds of bad karma from germinating and coming back at us. The Abhaya mudra grants the assured protection from the Lord. The elephant goad (aṅkuśa) tames the toughest of karmic influences and helps us overcome them. The spear (paṭṭiśaṃ) can pierce the cakras to help the rise of the Kuṇḍalinī śakti in our body. The javelin (bhindipālaṃ) is for striking and pinning down the inimical forces headed towards us. The shield (kheṭa) holds back the inimical forces and protects us from their influence. The lance (tomara) also pierces the vulnerable weakness of the inimical forces that may otherwise be formidable to overcome. The hammer (mudgara) is for nailing down the inimical forces in their path and halt their approach towards us. The conch (śaṅkha) is for aligning us to the vibrations of the mātṛkā śaktis. The rope (pāśa) attracts us towards the Divine and the trident (śūlaṃ), pierces the triads to help identify our true reality as the singular consciousness. The fire-emitter (hutāśana) burns away all the residual karma within us and lights up our path towards progress. The wish granting Vara mudra will help in the fruition of all our desires and wishes. The spear (śaktiṃ) pierces the stubborn bandhas and cakras within our body to release the blocks hindering the flow of the Kuṇḍalinī śakti. The winnow (mṛṇmaya) helps separate the husk and by extension helps us identify our companions in our material and spiritual journey. The pot (kuṇḍikām) indicates all the wealth and prosperity that could be bestowed upon us. The bow (kārmukaṃ) provides the ability to shoot the arrows and missiles, that maybe needed to put down very dangerous elements impacting us. The raised forefinger (tarjanī) forewarns all our enemies of the dangers in store for them and the seal (mudrāṃ), leaves the mark of the Lord in all our activities and our character. The mace (gadā) can break all barriers impacting our progress and finally the drum (ḍamarum), announces the presence of the Lord to protect and ensure our welfare at all times.
Without a doubt, the Lord takes care of everything and ensures peace, success and robust health.

viśarogābhiyāṃ mṛtyor-haraṃ śatru-bhayāpahaṃ svarṇaugha-tulya-garūḍe stithaṃ pūrṇendu-candrakam ।
sumukhaṃ vidyudābhāsaṃ netratraya-virājitaṃ subhūṣaṃ pīta-vasanaṃ śaṅkha-cakrābhaya-varān ।
dhārayantaṃ caturbhiśca karaiḥ kṣetrādi nāśakaṃ apamṛtyu mahākṛtyā nāśakaṃ nṛhariṃ smaret ॥ 5 ॥
विशरोगाभियां मृत्योर्हरं शत्रुभयापहं स्वर्णौघतुल्यगरूडे स्तिथं पूर्णेन्दुचन्द्रकम् ।
सुमुखं विद्युदाभासं नेत्रत्रयविराजितं सुभूषं पीतवसनं शङ्खचक्राभयवरान् ।
धारयन्तं चतुर्भिश्च करैः क्षेत्रादि नाशकं अपमृत्यु महाकृत्या नाशकं नृहरिं स्मरेत् ॥ ५ ॥
Salutations to Lord Nṛhari (Śrī Nṛsiṃha) who destroys all types of vicious diseases and health conditions and prevents untimely death. Praise be upon Him who destroys all types of fears and negative influences of inimical forces. He enamors us with a very pleasing appearance, seated on a golden eagle mount (Lord Garuḍa). He appears very handsome and has a dazzling lightning like radiance about Him, is three-eyed, adorned with precious ornaments on His body, clad in golden yellow garments bearing in His four arms – a conch (śaṅkha) and a discus (cakra) on the upper side and the fear allaying Abhaya and wish granting Vara mudras on the lower side. May we meditate upon Him, who is unmatched in His ability to destroy the enemies and their entire domains and in preventing untimely death, destroying black magic and all types of harmful procedures and spells and for bestowing complete protection in all types of situations and ensuring our welfare at all times!
The conch (śaṅkha) and the discus (cakra) remove all disturbance and align us to the frequencies of the Divine mātṛkā śaktis. The Abhaya and Vara mudras remove all the fears and ensure the fulfillment of all our desires and wishes. His benign appearance ensures peace, prosperity, robust health and complete welfare for the entire lifetime.

8.Mūla Mantraḥ (मूलमन्त्रः) -
ugram vīram mahāviṣṇum jvalantam sarvato-mukham nṛsiṃham bhīṣaṇam bhadram mṛtyu mṛtyum namāmyaham ॥
उग्रं वीरं महाविष्णुं ज्वलन्तं सर्वतोमुखं नृसिंहं भीषणं भद्रं मृत्युमृत्युं नमाम्यहं ॥
The 32 lettered Śrī Nṛsiṃha mantra should be recited at least 108 times. Initiation is essential.
Meaning - This is a thirty-two syllabled mantra and the parts of the main mantra are described below. –
- The word ”ugram (उग्रं)” denotes ferocity and extremely aggression.
- The word ”vīram (वीरं)” denotes bravery, heroism and extolled warrior status.
- The word ”mahāviṣṇum (महाविष्णुं)” is a reference to the Divine Lord as being omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. He is the entirety of the Creation.
- The word “jvalantam (ज्वलन्तं)” denotes the radiation of enormous engulfing fires.
- The word “sarvato-mukham (सर्वतोमुखं)” literally means facing all directions.
- The word “nṛsiṃham (नृसिंहं)” means half-lion and half-humanoid being combining the ferocity of a lion and applying the context on the human side towards our aspirations, wants, needs, protection etc.
- The word “bhīṣaṇam (भीषणं)” denotes an extremely terrific form and appearance.
- The word “bhadram (भद्रं)” denotes welfare, good fortune, auspiciousness etc.
- The words “mṛtyu mṛtyum (मृत्युमृत्युं)” denote the elimination of death causing diseases and ailments as well as all types of severe medical conditions and anomalies leading to death. Freedom from the fear of death by His grace is clearly denoted, to the extent of conquering it, to ensure a long lifespan.
- The word “namāmyaham (नमाम्यहं)” consists of the bīja “namaḥ” and the word “aham”. The hṛdaya bīja (seed) mantra namaḥ (नमः) refers to our salutations to the Divine and also constitutes a bond that is nurtured in our heart. The word “aham (अहं)” refers to the individual ego and self. The combined word is simply denoting our attachment and complete surrender to the Lord to gain His grace in all aspects of our life.
Salutations to the highly revered Divine in the form of Lord Nṛsiṃha (Viṣṇu), the Sustainer and Protector of all realms. May the omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent Lord bestow abundance in all aspects and fulfill all our wishes, remove all our fears, release us from all types of karmic debts and offer His protection throughout our lifetime for us and our loved ones.

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājña cakra. |

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand. |

Thus ends the six-part Ṣaḍāṅga nyāsa. |
bhūr-bhuva-ssuvarom-iti digvimokaḥ ॥
भूर्भुवस्सुवरोम् इति दिग्विमोकः ॥
Meaning: May the directions get unlocked to allow ourselves to experience the grace from all the triads of the three realms.
10. Dhyānam (ध्यानम् ) -
udyat sahasrārka bhāsaṃ bhīṣaṇākṛti vajratulyekṣaṇaṃ vahni-kānti nānābhujair-vṛtam ।
nakhair-dhārita-daityeśam rakta-dhārākta-kāyakaṃ krūra-karmādi-viṣaye smaredevaṃ bhayānakam ॥ 1 ॥
उद्यत् सहस्रार्क भासं भीषणाकृति वज्रतुल्येक्षणं वह्निकान्ति नानाभुजैर्वृतम् ।
नखैर्धारितदैत्येशम् रक्तधाराक्तकायकं क्रूरकर्मादिविषये स्मरेदेवं भयानकम् ॥ १ ॥
nṛṣiṃhaṃ taṃ mahābhīmaṃ kālānala samaprabhaṃ antra-mālā-dharaṃ raudraṃ kaṇṭhe hāreṇa śobhitam ।
nāga-yajñopavītaṃ ca pañcānana suśobhitaṃ candramauliṃ nīlakaṇṭhaṃ prativaktre trilocanam ।
bhujaiḥ paridha saṅkāśair-daśabhiścopa śobhitaṃ akṣasūtraṃ gadāṃ padmaṃ śaṅkhaṃ gokṣīra sannibham ।

भुजैः परिध सङ्काशैर्दशभिश्चोप शोभितं अक्षसूत्रं गदां पद्मं शङ्खं गोक्षीर सन्निभम् ।
धनुश्च मुसलं चैव विभ्राणं चक्रमुत्तमं खड्गं शूलं च वाणम् च नृहरिं रुद्रगोपनम् ।
इन्द्रनीलकनीलाभं चन्द्राभं वर्णसन्निभं पूर्वोदयोत्तर ज्वालादूर्ध्वास्यं सर्ववर्णकम् ।

siddhirbhavatu me deva tvat prasadān mayī sthirā ॥
गुह्यादि गुह्य गोप्त्वात्वम् गृहणास्मत् कृतं जपं ।
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देव त्वत् प्रसदान् मयी स्थिरा ॥
Meaning: O Lord, you are the most hidden secret of all secrets. May these mantra japa counts performed by me, be offered to you in totality. Our prayers and hope, are that your grace shall remain with us always.

Is the rsyadi nyasa , is the sakti of the mantra "ram" or " im" ?. In some versions it is " im " . Krishna can you please verify it? Thank you in advance.

Śāradā Tilaka tantram validates what I have published. The same can also be gleaned from Mantra Koṣa and Meru Tantram. I have not come across this mantra with the śakti set to 'iṁ'. But if it is being followed by a living tradition and if you have been initiated with that Viniyoga, then please follow it. In addition, Meru Tantra has the word 'bhadraṃ' replaced by 'rudraṃ'. The rest of the mantra is the same. The word 'rudraṃ' emphasizes the fiery nature of Lord Nṛsiṁha.
