Gayatri mantra should have two ॐ; one at the beginning of vyāhṛti-s and another for the second part, the Vedic mantra.
ॐ भूर्भुवस्सुवः।
ॐ तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम्।
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
om bhūrbhuvassuvaḥ |
om tatsaviturvareṇyam |
bhargo devasya dhīmahi |
dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt ||

As I said in the article, Gāyatrī mantra has two parts. One is vyāhṛti-s. The first OM belongs only to these vyāhṛti-s. The second part contains Vedic mantra and any Vedic mantra should begin with OM. Hence there are two OMs.

Please follow the mantra that you have been initiated into, when there is any doubt. Guru's word is final in these matters.

Many variations exist and are deployed as guided by the respective tantras and gurus. Also, the Gāyatrī mantra varies for each deity and sometimes various versions exist for the same deity as well.

Good afternoon, one book mentions this version of the Gayatri Mantra oṃ bhū oṃ rbhūvaḥ oṃ svaḥ oṃtat oṃsavitu oṃ vareṇya oṃ bhargo oṃ devasya oṃ dhī mahī oṃ dhiyo oṃ yo oṃ naḥ oṃ pracodayāt। Are the first 2 syllables (भू and र्भूवः), (bhū and rbhūvaḥ) separated correctly? I think it should be like this: bhūr and bhūvaḥ or is the first division correct? And why in the word: सवितु there is no letter ,, r ,, and in the word वरेण्य there is no ,, ṃ ,,? Thanks for the answer.

Your best bet is to contact the author of the book. It is quite possible that this may be a different variation of the mantra or there could be a mistake somewhere. Please note that the mantra on our site is very effective, if you can chant at least 10 mālās a day before sunrise concentrating on each of the cakras. One mālā per cakra and 3 more on the ājñā cakra. Do this for 6 months and you may see some benefits. Performing associated nyāsās with dhyāna following the mantra japa sādhana standards is most effective.

When the vyāhṛti-s - Bhūr, Bhuvaḥ and Svaḥ are combined together, we form a "sandhi", as it is called in Sanskrit and that becomes bhūrbhuvassuvaḥ. You can use either the sandhied form or the separate form of these words while chanting. The effect is the same. As always, follow the directions of your guru and recite what is initiated. The guru̍'s instructions are final in these matters.

The self-initiation article has some information related to your query. Please note that initiation is absolute necessary for all serious practitioners of tantra.
